A three-vehicle accident on Co. Rd. 15 claimed the life of Ronald Talbot, 48, of Fridley Thursday morning, Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott reports. The accident occurred just befor 10 a.m. Talbot was traveling north on Co. Rd. 15 while Blane Travis, 52, of Elk River, was driving his SUV southbound, followed by his wife in a separate vehicle. The two vehicles driven by Talbot and Blane struck each other head on. Talbot’s vehicle then made contact with the SUV Donna Travis, 54, also of Elk River, was driving. The Sherburne County Shefiff’s Dept., Elk River Police Dept. and the Big Lake Fire Dept. assisted at the crash. Talbot was pronounced dead at the scene. Donna was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital. Blane was taken by ambulance to the New River Medical Center. The accident occured near the intersection with 211th Avenue, on a curved section of the road. Talbot is not the first person to lose his life on this stretch of the highway. A white cross marks the spot where 17 year-old Carina Brown died after the vehicle she was riding in left the road on the curve in 2004.
