The Sherburne County Board of Commissioners will be discussing feedlot issues during a workshop at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Government Center. Last year, the board set a moratorium on issuing permits for new feedlots until a task force reviewed the issue and offered a recommendation. In January, the board tabled the issue again because of proposed language that would affect property owners who have animals on smaller lots. John Exner, Environmental Specialist with Sherburne County Zoning Administration, says the workshop session on Wednesday is to discuss the recommendations of the feedlot task force and planning commission regarding setbacks to large feedlots and manure storage areas that are regulated by the MPCA. There will be no discussion Wednesday on animal units allowed on smaller sized lots, and there are no meetings scheduled at this time on the issue. Since it is a workshop and not a regular board meeting, the commissioners will not be voting on any issue Wednesday.
