Motorcycle raffle will help build arena

The drawing for the Becker Big Lake Ice Association's motorcycle raffle is scheduled for Thursday at 8 p.m. at Victory Sports Grill and Bar. Tickets, which cost $100 each, will be on sale right up until the time of the drawing. Only 250 tickets will be sold.

The motorcycle is a black 2007 Victory Vegas 8 Ball. It is on display at Victory Sports Grill and Bar. All profits from the raffle will go towards the ice association's goal of building an indoor ice arena in the area.

Cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250 will also be drawn. The event will be emceed by Dean Downs of Dean-O-Mite Entertainment and Victory managers Mike Christenson and Chris Magler will offer a 10% discount for anyone who turns out to support the ice association that night.

Raffle tickets may also be purchased from any staff member at Victory or from Bristow's Kawasaki-Polaris. For more information on the raffle of the ice association, contact Kent Vickerman at (763) 263-6211.

"Victory has also been selling pull tabs for us for almost a year and we have just passed our first state audit with flying colors," Vickerman said. "On behalf of the ice association, I would really like to thank them for all their help and support over the past year. it is much appreciated."

Other upcoming fundraisers for the ice association include a golf tournament at Pebble Creek Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $65 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart and a meal. There will be a silent auction of sports memorabilia items. To sign up for the tournament, contact Chadd Gundberg at (763) 263-9065, or Chris Stalpes at (763) 263-6492.

The second annual Rink Fest will take place at Salida Depot Saturday, Aug. 25. Three bands will play. Further details will be published as they become available.

"We expect to start our capital bonding process soon," said Vickerman. "We have been studying how this has been done in other communities. We would like to thank the community for their support for this project."
