 A serious traffic accident on Airport Road sent three women to the hospital early Thursday afternoon. Two of them had serious injures. The third had non-life-threatening injuries.

Thanks to the Big Lake Middle School Student Council, staff and students at the middle school are enjoying cold, filtered water from a new hydration station installed last month.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott gave his annual report at the Orrock Township Supervisors meeting Wednesday. His department answered 1,777 calls for service in 2014, down from 1,876 calls in 2013 but up from 1,301 calls in 2012, Sheriff Brott said.

Big Lake Township Hall was packed as Big Lakers headed to Lions Park for the annual fish fry Friday.
There are four stated candidates running for two seats in the Orrock Township elections March 10. They are incumbents Michael Eisinger and Eric Peterson, and challengers Bryan Adams and Bob Hassett.

The Big Lake City Council recognized the efforts of the Big Lake Police Dept. Reserve Officers and their contributions to the city at their meeting Wednesday. The Reserves donated over 4700 hours in 2014 totaling over $70,000 at $15/hour.

BLHS Varsity choir participated in festival

The BLHS Varsity Choir participated in the Region 7AA Mixed Choir Festival at North Branch High School Wed, Jan. 28. 

LECTURE SERIES. Presenter Doug Breese spoke about his life-long interest in the story of the RMS Titanic during his presentation at the Sherburne History Center last Tuesday afternoon. Breese was the final speaker in the Winter Lecture Series at the SHC for this year.
