In May, the gaming world celebrates the return of one of the world’s most popular board games. Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong arrives in a few days, the opportunity for us to summarize everything you need to know about it.
Whether you are a fan of role-playing games or not, you have probably already heard of the universe of Vampire: The Masquerade. Created in 1500, this dark and sinister role-playing game transports you to a dark version of our world, where clans of Vampires reign over ordinary mortals without their knowledge. Between mafia thriller and fantastic story, Vampire: The Masquerade quickly established itself as a reference among role-players, and made its first entry into the world of video games in 2000 with Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption, followed by Bloodlines four years later. Mixed successes if we stick to the commercial aspect, but which have marked many players who have been waiting for a sequel to these legendary games for a while.
The good news is that two sequels are in development, if we put aside the Battle Royale Bloodhunt, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, an ambitious open-world RPG with complicated development, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, a human-scale narrative RPG, focused on puzzle solving and character interactions. And, from what we know, it is Swansong that we can discover first. At the controls of this RPG we find the Bordeaux studio Big Bad Wolf (cocorico), accustomed to experiments mixing RPG and narration as with The Council, greatly acclaimed by critics.
